Great Missenden is a village in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside, situated about 20 miles northwest of London. For our location map, use the pdf on the right.

If you can, try to come by public transport. Below you will find lots of information to help you, however you are planning to travel. If you travel by train, take advantage of the 2for1 ticket offer from Chiltern Railways. If you are coming by car, see if you can car share with another family.

By train
Great Missenden is served by a good train service from London Marylebone with two trains per hour. The journey takes 40 minutes and it is a very easy walk from the station to the Museum. See Chiltern Railways website (link on the right) for an up-to-date timetable and details of engineering works which may affect the line.

By car

Car parking
As the Museum is part of the historic High Street, there is no parking at the Museum itself, although there is a pay and display car park off the Link Road less than 5 minutes walk away. If parking in the village please park only in designated parking spaces and be aware of any time restrictions.

At weekends and in school holidays when the pay and display car park is full Chiltern Railways have very kindly given permission for our customers to park in the station car park at Great Missenden station.  Parking fees and restrictions will still apply.

The Highways Agency, which manages England’s 4,000+ miles of motorways and major trunk roads, has a website showing traffic flow and up to the minute information on any incidents – you can even check the view from CCTV cameras or read what the motorway message signs are saying. By bus
The Tiger Line T1 is our local bus service brought to you by Woottens. It serves Aylesbury-Stoke Mandeville-Wendover-Great Missenden-Chesham-Bovingdon-Hemel Hempsted. Follow the link for timetables and information.

The Arriva Bus Company runs regular bus service between Great Missenden and High Wycombe from Monday to Saturday. Buses 45 and 48 serve Prestwood, Great Kingshill, Widmer End, Hazelmere, Terriers, and High Wycombe.
